VERO BEACH, Fla. Oct. 11 2010 – Summit Construction Management, Inc. of Vero Beach has been chosen by Piper Aircraft Inc. to modify the manufacturer’s campus for assembly and completion of the PiperJet, now in the detail design phase of its development.
Brad Schuh, president and project manager of Summit, says, “We are pleased that Piper has selected a local design/build firm for this important Florida project and we plan to use local subcontractors for all of the work.” He added that the multimillion-dollar project will generate about 30 local design and construction jobs for about a year.
Design/Build
Summit Construction will provide architectural design and construction management services to upgrade an existing 75,000 square foot building on Piper’s manufacturing campus. The project consists primarily of interior renovations to the building, including air conditioning the entire building.
Piper will assemble its new single-engine PiperJet, a comfortable and efficient single-engine entry in the very light jet market that seats up to seven individuals in an expanded and commodious cabin. Flight tests being flown by the PiperJet proof of concept vehicle have verified the company’s expectations and helped the company develop further enhancements. Piper is scheduled to announce specific aircraft improvements at 10 am next Tuesday during the National Business Aviation Association Annual Meeting and Convention in Atlanta.
