Your Flight Training Journey in Washington
Every pilot’s path has a few major milestones. Here’s what you can expect from your training experience in Washington:
Discovery
Flight
Your first hands-on experience in the flight deck. You’ll sit in the pilot’s seat (with an instructor) and get a feel for what flying is really like.
Ground
School
Before you take the controls solo, you’ll learn aviation basics like weather, navigation and aircraft systems. Ground school gives you the knowledge to make safe decisions in the air.
Flight
Lessons
You’ll fly regularly with an instructor, learning takeoffs, landings, maneuvers and communication. Each lesson builds on the last.
Solo
Flight
One of the biggest training milestones: flying the plane without an instructor on board. After you’ve demonstrated key skills, you’ll be cleared to solo.
Checkride
