VERO BEACH, FL., Aug. 17, 2015 – Piper Aircraft, Inc. has delivered three single-engine complex Piper Arrow trainers to the University of Dubuque. The pilot training aircraft will join the Aviation Department’s training fleet in time for the beginning of the Fall 2015 semester.
The Piper Arrow was chosen as the newest training aircraft for UD’s single-engine flight courses based on its efficiency, reliability, and ease of operation. The new Arrows are standard equipped with Garmin G500 avionics. This delivery follows the school’s previous purchase of twin-engine Piper Seminoles, enhancing the existing fleet with Piper products in a continued effort to upgrade aircraft and provide the most comprehensive approach to aviation education.
“The Piper Arrow is a relentless workhorse,” said Chief Flight Instructor, Mike Glynn, of the University Dubuque. “Providing the most modern single-engine aircraft equipped with a glass cockpit affords our students a competitive advantage for flying in the contemporary world. We know we have the power to equip aspiring pilots with the greatest knowledge and technical abilities by handing them the controls to the most proficient training aircraft.”
“One of the best single-engine, four-cylinder trainers available today, the Piper Arrow is an excellent option for flight schools,” said Piper President and CEO Simon Caldecott. “Its value cannot be measured when considering its value proposition and proven performance. Piper prides itself on trainers with a standing safety record, and we are honored UD continues to expand their fleet with our aircraft, grooming the next generation of flight students.”
Each Piper trainer interior is designed for maximum comfort and durability. Ergonomic seating keeps students and instructors relaxed, increasing the ability to focus on flight operations. Heavy-duty vinyl and wear-resistant leathers are hand-fitted to the seats and sidewalls to withstand repetitive use.
The Piper Arrow is the only single-engine complex trainer aircraft built today. With familiar controls and similar handling characteristics as that of other Piper trainers, it provides an easy transition for students moving up to a more complex aircraft. It is powered by a 200 hp Lycoming piston engine and cruises at speeds in excess of 137 ktas. It features the Garmin G500 glass avionics suite. While neither party is announcing the value of the contract, a standard equipped Piper Arrow starts at $448,750.
